The medal W.Gregoir recalls the eminent Belgian Urologist, co-founder of the EUROPEAN ASSOCIATION OF UROLOGY in 1973 and its General Secretary for many years. It is granted by the board of the EAU as maximum award to prominent European Urologists in recognition of their professional and academic path. Created in 1992, the first W.Gregoir gold medal of the EAU was granted to the Prof. José Antonio Martínez-Piñeiro, during the X Congress celebrated in Genoa (Italy), On July 22-25, 1992.
